Zalla Companies’ History

In 1965, William (Bill) Zalla was a young stockbroker. By night and on the weekends, he began contracting to complete small building projects for his financial services clients and others. In no time it became his primary pursuit. While he started as a merchant builder, doing both residential and commercial work, Bill began creating assets for his own portfolio.

Today, Zalla Companies is a group of nineteen dedicated professionals who develop and manage a growing portfolio of real estate assets which they intend to maintain for the long term.

Zalla Companies has experience in the entire real estate development life cycle. Our approach has always been one of direct engagement; active participation in all aspects of a project including site identification, zoning and permitting, design development, tenant brokerage, construction management, property maintenance and asset management. Our portfolio of assets includes warehouse/industrial, retail, professional offices, medical offices, multi-family/residential and special purpose facilities.

Our officers David Heidrich, CEO and Julie Rottman, CFO have been involved in the commercial development business for fifty-five years collectively. Over the years, the company has consistently grown both in size and in the complexity of the project undertaking. David Heidrich has worked with Zalla Companies since 2000 and served as CEO since 2002. He has managed the growth of the company projects and assets by 400%. This includes guiding the development of the medical office portfolio. As President and CEO, he establishes the strategic direction for the company and supplies leadership in all matters.
